Goosenecks are easy to explain. The gooseneck trailer employs a pivoted coupling arm which attaches to a ball mounted in the bed of your pickup truck. The coupling arm connects to the hitch mounted over the rear axle in your truck bed. A gooseneck is not a fifth wheel. It is a class 5 hitch that mounts a ball in the bed of a truck.
