Draw-Tite Activator Series Brake Controllers - Info

Timed Based Controls generate an output signal that increases over a period of time (Ramp Cycle). The time-based controls apply braking power at a fixed rate that is not proportional to the pressure applied to the brake pedal.

Activator Controls®

Activator® line of Electronic Brake Controls for trailers with electric brakes apply the trailer's brake electronically as soon as the brake pedal is engaged, unlike pendulum models which react to inertia created after the tow vehicle's brakes have already begun to stop.

The amount of braking power (output) and rate of application (sync) are both adjustable for the individual driver's preference, road conditions, type of trailer and load. The driver can control the amount and rate of braking from soft to aggressive and the brakes can be manually applied.

OUTPUT - For ease of adjustment, an output control is located on the front of all Activators. The Activator has a slide adjustment and its output indicator is a red light, which illuminates when the brakes are applied. The Activator II and Activator III have a thumb wheel adjustment and their output indicator are a digital display, this shows the output when the brakes are applied.

SYNC - The sync control is a slide adjustment located on the side of both brake controls. Activator II and Activator III output indicators will digitally display the sync setting.

MANUAL - The manual control is activated by squeezing the trigger located on the front of all Activators. Its use will illuminate both the tow vehicle and trailer stop lights as required by National Highway Traffc Safety Administration regulations.

INSTALLATION - Since the Activator controls have no moving parts or pendulums to adjust, they can be mounted in virtually any position and require no leveling - EVER. Their slim, compact design and contoured shape are combined to provide more under-dash clearance than any other brake control. A conventional four wire hook-up is illustrated in easy-to-follow instructions. Mounting bracket and hardware are included.

  • 100% solid state reliability
  • No moving parts
  • No hydraulic connections
  • Mounts anywhere; no leveling required
